On June 8th, HHMAX, in conjunction with the Southwest Institute of Physics (SWIP), held a contract signing ceremony and a seminar on the development of neutron source reactor technology at the HHMAX headquarters for the conceptual design and technical development of the HHMAX901 fusion experimental reactor. The signing ceremony was attended by a number of prominent figures in the nuclear fusion industry, including Jiang Xiang, the CEO of HHMAX, Min Xu, the chief engineer of the SWIP, Songtao Wu, a senior expert of the Institute of Plasma Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ASIPP) and other senior experts from the Chinese Academy of Engineering Physics (CAEP), Sichuan University, and Sun Yat-sen University.
At the ceremony, experts actively discussed the overall scheme, technical details and other technical issues pertaining to the fusion industry of the HHMAX901 fusion experimental reactor of HHMAX. They completely affirmed the plan of the HHMAX9 series reactors of HHMAX to achieve the neutron source in the near future by adopting the method of linear magnetic mirror fusion technology.
HHMAX will promote in-depth cooperation with the SWIP, and gradually promote and launch technical cooperation with major research institutions and numerous specialists in the domestic fusion industry, in order to build the first generation of experimental devices and successfully discharge it within a year.Later, we plan to accomplish the neutron source and the core components of the fusion system through middle-short term R&D in 3-5 years, with applications in nuclear medicine, neutron imaging and other fields. In addition, we will provide an appropriate neutron source experimental platform for the neutron irradiation test of the first-wall material and verification of tritium breeding, which are urgently needed in the fusion industry, accelerating the commercialization of China’s fusion energy.
