Industry Interaction | HHMAX Physics Experts Invited to Present at 2nd Applied Physics Conference

In support of building a technologically powerful nation and advancing the pivotal role of physics research in technological innovation, the 2nd Applied Physics Conference was held at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) in Chengdu from April 10 to 13. Jointly organized by the Chinese Physical Society and co-hosted by UESTC and the Applied Physics Center of the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the event facilitated academic exchanges between researchers in fundamental/applied physics and industry professionals.

As China’s leading controlled nuclear fusion enterprise, HHMAX (Chengdu) Technology Co., Ltd. participated in the conference. The company’s Chief Physical Scientist Dr. Zheng Chunyang delivered an invited presentation, while Diagnostics Director Dr. Liang Shaoyong gave a conference report, sharing HHMAX’s progress in developing field-reversed configuration (FRC) fusion devices and its breakthrough electromagnetic sensing technologies.

Dr. Zheng Chunyang presented “Development Progress of HHMAX-901 FRC Fusion Device”, highlighting achievements in physics and engineering design that ensure scientific validity and feasibility. He revealed that the engineering design and construction are progressing steadily, with completed validation of formation zone physical parameters. Detailed design plans for subsystems have been finalized, components are entering manufacturing phases, and facility retrofitting has commenced.

Dr. Liang Shaoyong addressed “High-Precision Measurement of Microsecond-Level Pulsed Magnetic Signals”, detailing HHMAX’s magnetic diagnostic system design featuring high-precision calibration and testing techniques. This system will provide critical technical support for HHMAX-901’s engineering commissioning, plasma experiments, and future fusion ignition.

The company expressed full confidence in achieving projected milestones, emphasizing that this device will lay solid technical foundations for commercializing fusion energy.

Applied physics, as a vital bridge between fundamental science and industrial technology, falls under China’s prioritized interdisciplinary domains. This conference established an open academic platform to foster cross-disciplinary collaboration and drive original innovations addressing national strategic needs. With controlled nuclear fusion being a global focal point for future energy solutions, HHMAX’s technological demonstrations attracted significant attention, reinforcing its commitment to accelerating China’s path toward commercial fusion energy through continued industry collaboration.
