In advancing the application of nuclear technologies, deep integration of industry, academia, research, and application is pivotal to driving innovation. On November 7, HHMAX signed a strategic collaboration agreement with Sichuan University during the “Collaborative Chains, Empowering a Nuclear Future” Nuclear Technology Application Industry Chain Summit, hosted by the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC). The event gathered hundreds of key stakeholders, including government representatives, industry associations, leading enterprises, top universities, research institutes, and financial institutions.

Professor Hu Zhimin from Sichuan University, a leading expert in fusion physics and medical radiation physics, has made groundbreaking contributions in areas such as high-temperature plasma diagnostics and radiation-matter interactions. His team combines profound theoretical expertise with extensive practical experience, positioning them as ideal partners for cutting-edge nuclear science collaborations.
Under the agreement, Professor Hu Zhimin and his research group will leverage their strengths in accelerator physics to collaborate with HHMAX on the “Simulation and Experimental Research of AB-BNCT Neutron Sources” project. This partnership aims to bridge theory and practice, providing critical support in neutron source design, technical optimization, and experimental validation.
Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) is an internationally recognized precision radiotherapy technology. By utilizing low-energy neutrons and boron compounds selectively accumulated in cancer cells, BNCT destroys malignant cells while sparing healthy tissue, functioning as a hybrid of “targeted therapy + radiotherapy”.
This collaboration aligns with HHMAX’s strategic focus on advancing linear compact fusion neutron sources and expanding their applications in nuclear medicine, material processing, and neutron imaging. The AB-BNCT project marks a critical step in HHMAX’s efforts to establish a foothold in the nuclear healthcare sector. By combining Sichuan University’s academic excellence with HHMAX’s engineering capabilities, the partnership will accelerate R&D in neutron source technologies, laying the foundation for BNCT’s clinical implementation.
Moving forward, HHMAX plans to deepen collaborations with more universities and research institutions, fostering resource sharing and complementary strengths. Through such synergies, the company aims to drive innovation across the nuclear technology landscape, contributing to the industry’s sustainable growth and transformative impact.
