On June 17, 2024, HHMAX officially appointed Researcher Zheng Chunyang as the company’s Physical Scientist.

As a senior expert in China’s controlled nuclear fusion field, Zheng Chunyang is known for his innovative academic insights, outstanding research achievements, and extensive industry experience. His appointment will significantly enhance the company’s decision-making quality, drive scientific progress, and address complex technical challenges. He will lead the team to refine technical parameters and accelerate HHMAX’s efforts to commercialize fusion energy.
Zheng Chunyang’s Profile
- Education:
- 1985: Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Peking University.
- 1988: Master’s degree in Optics, Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
- 1994: Ph.D. in Nuclear Fusion and Plasma Physics, China Academy of Engineering Physics.
- Career:
- 1994–Present: Researcher at Beijing Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics, focusing on laser fusion plasma nonlinear instability theories and numerical simulations. Concurrently served as Director of the Plasma Physics Teaching and Research Office.
- Research Focus:
- Laser propagation under fusion plasma conditions.
- Excitation, coupling, competition, and saturation mechanisms of laser plasma instabilities (e.g., SRS, SBS, TPD).
- Generation, transport, and preheating of superthermal electrons.
- High-current particle sources and radiation sources under ultra-intense laser conditions.
- Key Achievements:
- Led National Major Projects, the Ministry of Science and Technology’s 973 Program, and NSFC-funded projects.
- Awarded the First Prize of the Military Science and Technology Progress Award (1999).
